The Tramp and the Ponce – Some Choice!

Ron DeSantis, the reincarnation of Ponce de Leon, (aka “the Ponce”) quipped:

“I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair…..But what I can speak to is if you have a prosecutor, ….who chooses to go back many, many years ago to try to use something about porn star hush-money payments, that’s an example of pursuing a political agenda ……”

In response, the Tramp shot back:

“Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser, and better known, when he’s unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are “underage” (or possibly a man!). I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do!”

In high school, ridiculing and making fun of personal appearances was a commonplace adolescent practice.  It appears that the Tramp and, to a lesser extent the Ponce, never managed to develop beyond that mental stage.  Of course, the same goes for their disciples – arrested mental development. Let’s not forget that the Tramp once, rather unkindly, referred to his porn star date as “horseface.”  The Tramp never even learned how to offend cleverly.  Really!  For example, if you wanted to offend the facial appearance of the Sunkist Tramp, you would say something like, “If my puppy had a face like yours, I’d shave his bum and teach him how to walk backwards!”  You have to use some imagination!

As it turns out, the Ponce and the Tramp are the front runners to lead the Republican Party into the next election. This is akin to the blind leading the deaf.  The Republican Party, that critical institution which once genuinely advocated for reduced taxes, free markets, deregulation, privatization, and reduced government debt seems to have abandoned all meaningful reason in order to focus on policies of revenge and retribution for the various humiliations brought on by the Tramp.  That is their coward’s agenda.  It is not to serve the public or their constituents.  It’s a coward’s agenda because, even though the diehard Tramp devotees represent no more than 15-20% of the Republicans, the rest of them live in fear of being on the receiving end of his wrath.  Strange.  You work all your life to be able to effectively represent your constituents, then throw it all away in the face of caustic and moronic threats from a bully.

Revenge and retribution.  Are these the strategies with which to run a country – even at the best of times?  Running a country with these policies in challenging times is criminal – a certain invitation to disaster.

It doesn’t it take much imagination to guess how a political party cowed by authoritarian dictator (either the Tramp or the Ponce), will lead the country in facing the challenges of the future.
