With the ready availability of text and video reflecting authentic records, you would think that public figures would shy away from making statements that are blatant lies. But, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
An excellent example of this is the recorded demonstration that most authoritarians are Cowards with a capital C.
In his book, “the rise and fall of the Third Reich” William Shirer states that, The World War 1 hero [Ludendorff] refused to have anything to do with Hitler ever since he fled the Beer Hall after the first volley of bullets during the Beer Hall Putsch.” Hitler ran away and left his comrades to take the fire.
This is the typical behavior of an authoritarian.
Stalin may have been bold, clever, assertive, and completely unscrupulous, but he was also a Coward. He never took part in strikes or demonstrations that involved real danger. He was always in the background whispering orders and appeared only when the coast was clear. He was one of those that incite a mob from the side streets and then slips quietly away. This is the brute that murdered 10 million people. And he is the very hero that Vladimir Putin wants to emulate. Some hero!
Authoritarians love and admire one another.
On January 6, Tramp said “….we’re going to walk down to the Capital and I’ll be right there with you…”.
Really? He was going to be right there with everyone? BULL!!
Six minutes after saying that, Tramp skedaddled. His motorcade began heading back to the White House and he arrived there at 1:19 p.m.
So much for “being there with them”!
The Coward’s way out! The Authoritarian Coward’s way out!
Why is it that so many people adore morally and ethically bankrupt authoritarians? For some in the wealthy classes it is doubtless a belief that the Authoritarian will ensure their privileged status – everyone else can remain impoverished. What about the majority of people in poorer societies? Why do they support authoritarians who do nothing for them except falsely blame everyone else for their condition? Do they have this enduring bitter wish to be led around by the nose?? In spite of everything openly known about these authoritarian trolls, so many people are helpless in resisting them.
It is one of life’s sad mysteries!
